A literature review of the different types of treatments in adolescent scoliosis / Christine Cortier

Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Mémoire Mots-clés : différents types traitement scoliose adolescent Résumé : The aim of the project is to critically review the literature on adolescent scolioris has been researched and studied, and many thousands of words have been written about all aspect of the condition and literature has been reviewed from a wide range of sources available on the subject. The first part of the project is a sample explanation of scoliosis and some bakground to the condition, plus a brief outline of the various types of scolosis present in adolescence.
The second section is a comparaison of the different types of traitment, wich is divided in three chapters.
The first chapter présents the différents types of braces and their effectiveness, Boston Brace seems to be the most reliable and effective up to today and is well suported in the literature.
Although Charleston nightime bending brace and the behavioural treatment for adolescent scoliosis show good perspectives for the future, but needs further research to confirm the efficacity of treatment.
The second Chapter shows different ways of treating scolioris conservatively.
This section shows three approaches of how to dal with this condition. Chiropractic, osteopathic and physiotherapist management of scolioris, providing their own prinicplaes aims and limits.
The third and last chapter presents an outline of the advantages and disavantages of the major surgical techniques used currently. This section shows that despite great fadvances in the post Harrington era, no one system for posterior spinal instrumentation sppears to be for all cases.
Although new research suggests that normal melatonin synthesis or matabolism may have an important role in regulating normal spine growth, and a defect in lelatonin could contribute to the aetiology of adolescent idiopathic scolioris.
